This degree provides practising Registered Nurses the opportunity to obtain an undergraduate qualification and further their knowledge and skills in nursing issues essential for advanced professional practice. The course also prepares students to progress to postgraduate studies.

Students who are Australian residents will benefit from the topics on leadership, cultural and Indigenous health care, teaching, research and management.

Students who are currently registered to practice in an overseas country will additionally benefit from studies on nursing within an Australian context.

Employment Prospects
Registered Nurses with advanced knowledge and skills in nursing leadership, cultural and Indigenous health care, teaching, research and management are well placed to contribute effectively to the multidisciplinary team in a changing and evolving health care system.

There is a global shortage of registered nurses and Australia is also affected by this. The knowledge and skills gained through this course, particularly that of Australian contemporary practice, will position graduates well for employment in Australia and many overseas coutnries where Australian nurses are sought.

Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings
Australian applicants or those with permanent resident status must be currently registered in Category 1 (RN) with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia or be eligible for reciprocal registration in Western Australia.

International students must have completed a three year post-secondary professional nurse education program and be currently registered as a nurse in the country in which they qualified. They must also meet Murdoch University's IELTS language requirements.

English competence.

Special Requirements:
International applicants must have a level of health suitable to meet the requirements of this course and meet safe nursing practice.

A clear Police clearance is required as well as a level of health suitable to meet the requirements of such a course and to meet safe nursing practice. On commencement, students will be required to obtain serology results for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, MRSA and Tuberculosis (Mantoux test). they will also be required to be vaccinated against Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis. Students will be required to provide copies of a current CPR certificate, Working with Children Card, clear National Police Certificate and Department of Health WA Criminal Screening Card.

Accreditation and Registration:
Completion of the Bachelor of Nursing (Conversion) course will allow graduates to be eligible to apply to the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia for registration in the cateogry of Registered Nurse.

Applicants will need to provide proof of having met an IELTS score of at least 6.5 in reading and listening and at least 7 in speaking and writing with an overall band of 7. Please note that IELTS scores are valid for two years only. It is the student's responsibility to arrange for a current IELTS prior to application for registration with NMBWA. Results from tests completed more than two (2) years prior to application for registration will not be accepted.
